Temperature Converter
Convert temperatures accurately between Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F), and Kelvin (K) using standard scientific formulas.
Tip: Celsius and Fahrenheit are not linear scale conversions, so we use exact formulas (not simple ratios).
What is a temperature converter?
A temperature converter helps you convert values between Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F), and Kelvin (K). Unlike many unit conversions, temperature is not a simple ratio conversion because each scale uses a different zero point. This tool uses standard formulas for accurate results and updates instantly as you type.
How to use
- Enter a temperature value (for example, 72).
- Select the unit you have (°F, °C, or K).
- Select the unit you need.
- Copy the result with one click.
Common use cases
- Weather: translate forecasts between regions (°C ↔ °F).
- Cooking: convert oven temperatures for recipes.
- Science and engineering: work with Kelvin in calculations.
FAQ
Why can’t temperature be converted with a single multiplier?
Because °C, °F, and K start at different zero points. Conversions require an offset and a scale factor.
Is Kelvin ever negative?
In standard physics, Kelvin is an absolute scale and does not go below 0 K.
Does the converter round results?
We format the display for readability while keeping enough precision for typical use.
